Forms & signing
Sign PDFs with a handwritten or digital signature
BergPDF offers two kinds of signing, clearly labelled. A handwritten signature is a picture you draw once and place anywhere. A digital signature uses your own certificate file and protects the document against later changes.
- Handwritten: draw once, saved on your computer, place it as ink on the page
- Digital: sign with a PKCS#12 certificate (.p12 / .pfx), visibly or invisibly, with reason, location and contact
- Several signatures on one document; edits after signing keep earlier signatures intact
- A "Signed" indicator and a Signatures dialog check whether the signed bytes are unchanged
- Checked with independent tools (poppler pdfsig and OpenSSL) in the project tests
